Vito Albert Palazzolo

Vito Albert Palazzolo, 65, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, November 18, 2021 in Champaign, IL.    

Vito was born in Hamtramck, MI on March 7, 1956, son of the late Irene Palazzolo and Salvador Palazzolo. He is survived by his fiancé, Laurie Sturm, and his three children: Nicole (Melissa), Jamie (Alex) and Vito (Dana).  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Wesly, Laina, Max, Blake, Ava, Aubree, August, Silas and Layla. Also survived by his sister Debbie (Jarrett), brother Vince (Donna), brother Sal and sister Antoinette, several nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He is proceeded in death by his sisters, Suzanna Palazzolo and Irene Janjanin.

Vito graduated from Yale High School in 1974 and continued his education to receive a master’s degree in public health administration. Vito was an avid outdoorsman who had a love for hunting and fishing. His passion for this prompted him to learn taxidermy at a young age. He studied to become a master Taxidermist, which lead him to own and operate of his own taxidermy business for many years. He had a loyal customer base, many of whom he considered friends.

Upon retirement, Vito enjoyed his days relaxing at his lake house, spending time with his grandchildren and being around his family. He truly loved the times spent with his family and friends, surrounded by many laughs and plenty of food! We will always remember his strong voice and infectious laugh.

He said, “If ever there is a tomorrow we’re not together, there is something you must always remember.  You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think. Even if we’re apart, I’ll always be with you.”

A memorial service will be held at 10:30am on Saturday, December 4, 2021 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Emmett, MI. A reception of family and friends will take place at the VFW in Emmett, MI immediately after the service.

Memorial services will also be held in Illinois at a later date.
