Tina Mae Riexinger, 71, passed away on Monday, April 4, 2022. Tina had a long fight with Multiple Sclerosis and lived her life to the fullest. She was born on September 21, 1950, in Tacoma, WA, the daughter of John and Vina Mae (Summers) Riexinger. Her parents and sister Vina preceded her in death. Tina leaves behind nieces, cousins, and many dear friends.
Tina graduated from Freeburg Community High School and attended Community College before entering the workforce. She worked for White Hen Pantries as an Operations Manager for several years and joined Building Maintenance Services at the University of Illinois in 1984. In 1990 she was one of only 8 recipients of the campus wide Chancellor’s Distinguished Nonacademic Staff Award. It was stated by one of her foremen “She was a goodwill ambassador who developed a bond with fellow staff and students”. Her MS eventually forced her to leave that position and she eventually relocated to Danville. IL.
Tina’s father was in the military for over 20 years and the family moved frequently around the US and spent time in Germany and France as well. She always considered herself an “army brat” and shared those memories of that time with family and friends. She was also an avid card player and enjoyed the company of many who joined her in that past time.
Per Tina’s wishes she will be cremated, and Watson Cremation Services are assisting with the arrangements. There are no services planned at this time and online condolences can be sent @watsoncremationservices.com.
