Terry Len Hoskins Obituary
Terry Len Hoskins (Hawkeye), 67, of Georgetown, died at home in his chair on Saturday, July 23, 2022, like he threatened to do for years. He was born on December 21, 1954, to Bobby & Ollie (Craig-Sears) Hoskins; they, his sister, Linda Williams, a special nephew, Tracy Green, & cousin, Wally Hoskins, precede him in death.
He is survived by: his four daughters, Kaylen, Kari (Brian Krankavitch), Kandis (Ned Seldomridge), & Kristen (Ben Crooks); his 5 grandchildren, Quentin, Ethan, Preslee, Sofia, & Keziah; his siblings, Delbert (Helen) Hansbrough, Bob (Tammy) Neal, Alan (Annette) Hoskins, Elizabeth White, Sherri Hicks, & Robin (Doug) Thoma; countless cousins, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles; & his thousand friends, as he never met a stranger.
Hawk married Rhonda Hughes on March 31, 1979 & had 4 pain in the ass kids. Hawk retired from Laborers Union Local 624 after 20 years & rubbed it in everyone’s face that he was able to retire at 42-years-old. Over the years you might have seen Hawk riding his Harley, fishing, playing volleyball & badminton out at Uncle Ron’s, listening to, dancing, & singing country-western, cooking & eating healthy, & embarrassing his daughters. Of having 4 daughters, Hawk often told people, “I always said I wanted to be surrounded by beautiful women, but this is NOT what I had in mind.” Despite his tough exterior, privately, he reminded his daughters, “Raising you girls was the best years of my life.” Hawk enjoyed watching his daughters grow up playing softball & passing on his wisdom to them with his unique sayings, including, “Can’t never did shit” & “Don’t ever get married; advice, thus far, they have heeded. He is also the only person who put carrots in his chili to make sure he was eating “healthy” & the only person on the lake that flew a pirate’s flag and kite from his boat. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
His last wishes were to be propped up beside the jukebox when he died or to be burned in a barrel so his daughters could continue to cash in his pension checks. Since we’re pretty sure both of those things are illegal, instead, he will be cremated by the old neighbor boy, Brad Watson. Hawk hated funerals but liked a good party. As a result, there will be a celebration of life in his honor from 5-9pm on Friday, July, 29, 2022, at the Fireside Event Space in Westville, Il.
