Steven Dale Smiley, 60, passed away peacefully at home on May 7, 2026.

 

Steven was born on January 5, 1966, in Danville, Illinois, to Arnold Dean Smiley and Freida Ann Smiley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Scott Smiley.

 

Steven was a hardworking man who dedicated many years to auto detailing before becoming a truck driver. Above all else, he treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, and friends, whom he loved deeply.

 

A man of strong faith, Steven was baptized in 2019, a meaningful moment that reflected the close relationship he carried in his heart with the Lord.

 

Steven had a lifelong love of fishing and proudly earned the nickname “Catfish Daddy,” a reflection of both his sense of humor and his passion for the water. He was also a devoted fan of rock and roll music, especially AC/DC, and enjoyed turning up his favorite songs whenever he could. He never passed up a good pepperoni pizza, one of his all-time favorite foods.

 

Steven also shared a special bond with his beloved dog, Scooby, whom he missed dearly and always carried close in his heart.

 

He is survived by his children, Jessica Hall (Will), Kayla Forshier (Chris), and Shane Hall (Kristi); his sister, Darla Hudson; and his ten cherished grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life. He also leaves behind many family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.

 

In accordance with Steven’s wishes, no formal services will be held. A celebration of life will be planned by the family at a later date, honoring him in the way he would have wanted to be remembered.

 

Steven will be remembered for his deep love of family and friends, his hardworking spirit, his unwavering faith, his love of music, and the countless memories made with a fishing pole in his hand and a song in his heart.
