Russell Wayne Farnum Obituary

Russell Farnum, 67, of Catlin passed away on December 28, 2025 at Accolade Healthcare of Danville.

Russell was born on October 8, 1958 in Danville, son of James and Evelyn (DuFour) Farnum.

Russell was a laborer who worked in the ag industry, notably with Coop Harper and at Ludlow Co-op of Paxton. He was also a handy man who did repair work for local property owners. He served in the Army from 1976 to 1980.

Russell was an avid car enthusiast who especially loved muscle cars and Ford pick ups. He enjoyed building model cars and collecting die cast car models. He also enjoyed working on cars and doing home improvement projects. He enjoyed listening to music (especially the Eagles) and spending time with his family and teaching his children as he worked. He also cherished his time with his grandchildren.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers (Emile, James, David, Kenneth, and Roger), and his ex-wife and friend, Tonia Farnum.

Russell is survived by his children: Kevin (Rachel) Farnum of Geneseo, IL, Kelly Farnum of Fithian, and Kyle Farnum of St. Joseph, and Matthew of Orland Park, IL, and a step-son, Corey (Carol) Brooks of St. Joseph. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren: Madelyn and Elliott Farnum of Geneseo, IL and Keith Farnum of Fithian as well as two step-grandchildren, Hunter Brooks and Clara Brooks of St. Joseph. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Per his wishes, Russell will be cremated and buried with his parents and brothers at Songer Cemetary in Tilton. A graveside service will be held next week and a celebration of life will be arranged by his children at a later date.
