Robert Lawrence Snell

Robert L. Snell, 72 of Georgetown, IL (born Larry Dale Hunt) passed away on 11/09/21 at his home with his wife and daughters by his side. Robert was born on April 14, 1949 to Richard and Evelyn (Walker) Hunt. He was later adopted and raised by Robert and Evelyn Snell, all three parents preceded him in death. Robert married the love of his life, Lola Thomas on September 3rd 1971 in Indianola. They recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Lola, two daughters, Laura (Richard) Donaldson and Bobbi (Brian) Cosat, his grandchildren, Sara (Brad) Watson, Kaytlin (Luke) Chovan and Dylan Cosat. His great grandchildren Isaac, Owen and Kaylin Chovan, Haylee, Mason and baby girl Watson due February 2022. His sisters Daf Spezia, Mollie (Doug) Pletch, Diana Hunt Coombs, and Taffie Clark. Bob Graduated from Jamaica High School in 1967. He attended Southern Illinois University for two years and then enlisted in the United States Army, serving as a map maker during Vietnam. After that, Bob graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor’s degree in Science and Secondary Education. He taught and coached for a few years then went on to work at Krupp Gerlach for 20 years. He later retired from Clifford Jacobs in Champaign. Bob lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and crosswords puzzles. He especially loved spending time with family and friends. His wife, daughters, grandkids and great grandkids were his pride and joy, his love for them was unconditional. Bob was not afraid to show his emotions and let everyone know how he felt.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, November 13th 2021 at Georgetown United Methodist Church at 400 N. Main Street in Georgetown, IL. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 10am – 12 noon at the church.

Memorial donations may be made in Bob’s name to Georgetown United Methodist Church. The family is entrusting Watson Cremation & Funeral Services with arrangements.
