Michael J. Coffey 70, of Danville Il passed away October 6, 2022, at home from his battle with cancer, with his family by his side.
Michael was born April 12, 1952, in Louisville, Ky to Richard Coffey and Joyce Jolley. Michael was raised in Potomac, IL by his loving Aunt and Uncle Nell and Ruel Asbury.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by Son Michael Coffey, Brothers Gary Coffey, Ashley Coffey, Clayton Asbury, His loving Aunt and Uncle who raised him Ruel and Nell Asbury, and his dog Baby.
Michael managed The 300 Room for 10 plus years. Michael also worked for Leverenz Electric for 10 plus years. In his free time Michael enjoyed Bowling, Fishing, collecting coins, playing bingo, and Watching his Favorite team Kentucky play sports. Michael loved spending time with his family and was always the life of the party at any gathering or holiday.
Michael is survived by his children Scott Coffey, and Sherri Reed both of Danville, IL. Sisters Joni (Lisa) Coffey, Collen Jeffries, and brothers Timmy Coffey, and Kenny Asbury. Debbie, Glenda, and Bert Asbury that grew up with Michael. Grandchildren, Haley (Ashton) Haton, JT Pollock, Ryleigh Johnson, Andrew Johnson. Special bonus daughter Jamie Brown. Girlfriend Retta Howard, and his bonus kids from his relationship with Retta, Nate Allen, Holly Allen and Rachel Bandd. Michael has several Nieces, Nephews, and Great Grandchildren that will love and miss him, and one Grand dog Dudley. Michael also leaves behind his Best Friend and Ex Wife Sheila Roberts, and many, many friends. Special Sister-in-Law Kathy Coffey, that would spend hours talking to Michael and watching Kentucky games over the phone with him.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for OSF Hospice, specifically Karen the Nurse that took amazing care of Michael and our family.
Services will be held at Crossroads Church 3613 N Vermilion St, Danville, IL, on Friday October 14, 2022, Visitations from 11:00 AM- 1:00 PM, service to follow immediately after visitation. No graveside service will be held.
We ask that you please dress casually.
