Megan Elizabeth Montgomery, 39, of Georgetown, Illinois passed away on Saturday, February 15, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri.
Megan was born to the late Alva H. Montgomery, Jr. and Roberta Christine “Chris” Craycraft Montgomery on September 12, 1985 in Urbana, Illinois. In addition to her dad, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, C.M. and Rosemond Craycraft of Georgetown, Illinois and Alva H. and Hazel Montgomery of Potomac, Illinois.
Additional survivors include her brothers, Michael Haden (Gabi) Montgomery and children Adam and Asher Montgomery and Lilly Ingold of Danville, Illinois and Matthew Gregory (Amanda) Montgomery and children Natalie, Andrew, Lucas, Hannah, and Titus Montgomery of Junction City, Kansas.
Megan absolutely loved and adored her nieces and nephews and all her family and was an enthusiastic supporter of the University of Southern Illinois women’s basketball team for the last three years.
Megan was a graduate of Georgetown-Ridge Farm High School in 2004. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Facilities Management from Western Illinois University and worked on her Master’s Degree at Grand Canyon University.
Megan was affiliated with Champaign Assembly #21 and Georgetown Assembly #107, International Order of the Rainbow for Girls, having served in many capacities including multiple terms as Worthy Advisor, Grand Representative of Colorado and Montana in Illinois, and Grand Service of Illinois. Megan was a 20 plus year member of Hope Chapter #104 of the Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois, having served as Worthy Matron in 2017 and Grand Adah of Illinois in 2018. She was the local coordinator for the Danville IL Area Toys for Tots Campaign for five years. She served a year with AmeriCorps at Ft. McCoy in Wisconsin; a substitute teacher with the Danville District 118 in Danville, Illinois and most recently worked with the Center for Youth and Family Services in Danville, Illinois. Megan helped and touched so many lives with her willingness to help and serve others.
Graveside services will be held at 12:00 Noon at the Georgetown Cemetery on February 21, 2025 officiated by Cody Miles. Watson Cremation and Funeral Services is in charge of the services and arrangements.
All are invited to a light lunch at Masonic Temple, 11 W. West Street in Georgetown Illinois for fellowship.
