Mark E. Harris

Mark was born August 7, 1951 in Danville, Illinois to Orie E. And Ruth I. Harris and passed July 26, 2026. 

Mark was married to Lillian R. Herman on July 12, 1974, she survives. Also surviving are two children, Jeremy E. Harris and Stacey L.(Brian) Hoskins. Mark had 8 grandchildren who he was so very proud of, Dylan(Dana Delagarza)Harris, Noah(Deneisha Garbutt) McBee, Logan(Marah Willmore)McBee, Kaylan(Riley) Hines, Collin(Autumn) Hoskins, Lake(Chloe McPherson ) Hoskins, Payton (Chelsea) Linton and Daniel(Josie Jones) Allen. He had 13 great grandchildren Layla, Leighton and Luca Harris, Braylen and Isla Mae McBee,  Prestyn Linton, Landry and Kenlee Hines, Charlie Hoskins, Ira and Ella Hoskins, Juniper and Jett Allen. He enjoyed and loved them all so much. 

Mark is also survived by his sister  Sharon(Mike) Hoskins and a sister-in-law Susan(Ray Rogers)Hawker.  Several nieces and nephews Jon, Jim, Stephanie, Steve, Tammy, Kim, Melissa, Ryan, Jason, Tina, Greg, Kari and Christy. Several great nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents Ruth and Orie Harris, sister Carolyn(Rick) Alley, brother Jerri(Shirley) Harris, sister Andrea Harris and grandson Brady Linton. 

He graduated from Westville High School in 1971. He worked at Heatcraft (Bohn Aluminum) until he retired when Heatcraft closed in 2008. He worked for Gulick’s Illiana Medical Equipment for 3 years delivering and setting up equipment. Then he went on to work for Hyster Depot for 5 years. He then delivered Meals On Wheels for CRIS Healthy Aging for 6 years, which he absolutely loved. 

Mark was first and foremost always a family man. His wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were the light of his life. Mark never met a stranger and loved to talk. He loved to travel, his cats and his Jeep. Mark was always happy to lend a helping hand for anyone when asked.  

A special Thank you to Kaylan, the nurses and all the other staff at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation who took such great care of Mark and to the Elara Caring Hospice nurses Carey and Kayla.

A celebration of his life and open house will be August 8, 2026, 2-4pm at Rabbittown Banquet Hall, 36 College St. Danville, IL.
