James “Jim” Chandler, 69, of Georgetown, passed away on August 16, 2021. He was born on January 22, 1952, to Jack and Jane Chandler. He is survived by his wife Sandy (Dill) Chandler, children Christopher (Susan) Sollars, Stacie (Mike) Sollars, James (Marie) Chandler, and Jodie (Richie) Ingram, grandchildren, Quentin, Lucas, Sophia, Jazlin, Jaycelin, Harper and Finley and his sister Karen (John) Kirk. He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant sons James Eric and Jacob Thomas, and his sister Kathy Morgan.
Jim was a retired lineman from Ameren Illinois Power Company. He devoted his time to his family and community. Georgetown was his “happy place” and he enjoyed giving back to it. While his kids where young he coached many of their activities both in and outside of school. In recent years, he enjoyed volunteering his time cleaning up the Georgetown Dam area.
He was known for cruising town in his white dump truck, grinning ear to ear, always looking for a project or a good sale (maybe in a dumpster). Everyone has a Jim story, please join us in celebrating his life and sharing these stories at an open house celebration, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at the Georgetown Fairgrounds Banquet Center from 1:00-5:00 PM.
Graveside Services will be at 1:30 PM, Sunday, August 22, 2021, at the Georgetown Cemetery, Phil Miller will be officiating. Memorial donations may be given in Jim’s name to the Georgetown Lion’s Club Splash Park Project or the Georgetown-Ridge Farm Area Ministerial Association. The family has entrusted Watson Cremation & Funeral Services in Danville to assist with arrangements.
