George Steele Obituary

George Steele, 71, of Georgetown, Illinois, passed on September 25, 2022. George will be remembered as a loving husband, son, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.

George is survived by his wife, Sharon (Morrison), of 51 years, four children: Sandra (Matt Hyde) Jones, Candice (Angel) Jimenez-Steele, Teresa Steele & William Steele, and 11 grandchildren: Erin, Harlee, Camron, Justice, Comfort, Braiden, Nolla, Stephanie, Alexis, Allie, Brandon, and one great-grandaughter Tiana. Two sisters: Dianna (Mike) Bush, Patti (Mike) Petkus Sr., and brother Bob (Kelly) Steele, brother-in-law Richard Stevens, Mother-in-law Maxine Morrison, and several nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Bert and Eva (Kabasinskas), sister Linda and brother Jim.

George was born on September 21, 1951. He grew up in Westville, IL., and was a 1969 graduate of WHS. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1970. He married Sharon Morrison on Sept. 18, 1971. He moved to Georgetown and raised his family. George was the supervisor and shipping clerk at Chicago Molding Platic Factory, Line operator, forklift driver at (Wyman-Gordon) Thyssen Krupp, and worked for Georgetown Township. He was secretary and treasurer of his unions at work. George was an EMT and certified CPR to do first aid at his job sites. He retired from Krupp. His hobbies were hunting, fishing, listening to music, and dancing. He enjoyed building and fixing things for his kids. He loved the Cardinals, Illini, and fantasy football. He helped with youth football and coached softball. After retirement, he enjoyed as much time as he could with his family and singing karaoke.
