Dick L Dean Obituary

Dick L. Dean, 80, of Danville, Illinois, passed away on December 24, 2024. He was born December 11, 1944, to the late Leland and Betty Dean. He was the oldest of four children. Dick is survived by his daughter, Jaime (Travis) Dokey; son, Richard Dean; grandchildren, Victoria Walls and Dayten Bryant; four great-grandchildren; and his dog, Jax.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Evelyn (Compton) Dean; and his daughter, Danielle Dean.

Dick was married to Evelyn Compton of Danville in July of 1970 until her passing in 2015. He retired from McLane's that same year. He worked there as a forklift driver. He spent many years as a mechanic at Jalopy Jungle. Honing his skills over years of dedicated work, he became a respected figure in the auto repair world. His experience provided a solid foundation for his career. Although his back and knees prevented it in his later years, he was once considered one of the area's best unknown Ford mechanics. He enjoyed retirement by "taking it easy" and watching his favorite show, NCIS, with his dog, Jax.
