Arleigh Gladys Engelmann Thompson, July 8th, 1931 - August 10th, 2025
Having survived 75 years of marriage and raising six children, Arleigh passed away on a beautiful Sunday morning. She was born in Oakwood Township. She grew up in Missionfield going to a one-room-schoolhouse. The Pollywogs Association was her playground. She graduated from Oakwood High School. She is survived by her children Priscilla (Mickey) Hobbs, Janice (Greg) Heath, Bruce Thompson, Mary Lou (Steve) Frerichs, 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren, her two sisters-in-laws Wilma Engelmann, Sandy Thompson-Swaim and many nieces and nephews. Arleigh was preceded in death by her husband William J. Thompson, daughter Arah Thompson Schreyer, son James C. Thompson, daughter-in-law Stacy Thompson, Brothers John, Van, Allen and a sister Mary Jane.
Arleigh loved to fish, sew, garden and read her books. Her garden was always full of beautiful zinnias. She quilted, knitted scarves and booties, embroidered, crocheted, made our clothes as well as the clothes for our dolls. The neighborhood kids were always fed if they were there at dinner time and company was always welcome.
Arleigh will be missed by many and loved by all.
