Arah Lin passed away peacefully August 31, 2024 at Carle Foundation Hospital. She was born May 6, 1949 in Urbana, IL. She was the daughter of William and Arleigh (Engelmann) Thompson. She leaves behind her son John A.C. Schreyer, mother Arleigh Thompson of Oakwood, IL. and siblings Pricilla (Mick) Hobbs of Sidell, IL., Janice (Greg) Heath of Danville, IL., Bruce Thompson and Mary Lou (Steve) Frerichs of Fithian, IL.


Arah enjoyed reading books, classic old movies, music, red poppies, her purses, shoes, sunglasses and family gatherings.


Arah graduated from Oakwood High School in 1967. She married Butch Schreyer in 1968 - John's father and Arah's friend. Her career as a graphic artist started early and her art work was truly a gift. She worked at Baily and Hines of Urbana. Later she set up and helped run Sport Print of Urbana with Chuck Carico (he preceded her in death) and was her life-long friend. She designed artwork for U of I, businesses and local civic and sports organizations.


Her final career was working register #11 at Farm and Fleet of Urbana, IL. There she met Ray Douglas, her companion and care giver. His unending love, support and care for her will never be forgotten.


Arah is loved by all her family, nephews, nieces and cousins remembering her forever in their hearts.


She was preceded in death by her father William Thompson, her brother Jim Thompson and her sister-in-law Stacy Thompson.


Graveside rites will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday August 12, 2024 at Oakwood Cemetery, Oakwood, IL.
