Anthony Hernandez was a husband, father, PhD student, high school math teacher, and most importantly a follower of Christ. He went home to be with his Heavenly Father on December 3rd after a short but resilient fight with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Anthony completed both his bachelors and masters degree in Mathematics at Indiana State University. Following graduation he worked as a Math lecturer at the university. He had met his wife Abbigayle in his Statistics class. They shared the dream of wanting a family.. On January 26th, they brought their son Luke Anthony into the world and got married on April 24th. His dream came true. He has a family.
Anthony was a kind and gentle soul with a very intelligent mind. He enjoyed playing chess, reading, learning, teaching, and spending quality time with his family. He also has a deep love for the McDonald's value menu. He was a simple man who enjoyed all the simple things in life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Michelle Lewis-Hernandez, father, Antonio Hernandez and grandparents, Mary & Larry Lewis. He is survived by his wife Abbigayle Hernandez, son Luke Anthony Hernandez, grandparents: Randy & Mary Felgenhauer, aunts: Kristina Bradshaw, Stephanie Lewis, Lily Castro, uncles: Larry Lewis Jr., Genero Castro, cousins: Brittany Bradshaw, Kayla Bradshaw, Liana Olvera, Genero Casto, LJ Lewis, Devin Lewis, Marcus Lewis, in-laws: Mike and Erin Dawson, brothers: Zakkery, Logan and Matthew Dawson and sister Meagan Callaway.
The viewing and funeral will be at the First Church of Christ in Georgetown, Illinois. The viewing will be from 4PM-6PM and the service will follow that. Keep in mind we are using Illinois time.
