Andrew Alfred (Jr.) Kupcik Obituary

Andrew Alfred Kupcik, 86, passed away at Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home on Saturday,
November 1, 2025. He was born on May 4, 1939, in Danville, IL, the son of Andrew and
Isabelle, Kupcik, they precede him in death. Also, preceding Andrew in death was his sister,
Joann Draper, a brother-in-law, Jerry Draper, and brother, Ronald Kupcik.
Andrew leaves behind his two beloved sons; Kevin (Christy) Kupcik and Kurt Kupcik, seven
grandchildren; Sara (Brad) Watson, Jedd, Alek, Izabelle, Kalyn, and Jennika Kupcik. Two step
grandchildren; Luke and Adysson Bailey. Seven great- grandchildren; Jade, Mason, Trina, Ellie,
Camryn, KJ, and Kyrie, and a brother, Anthony Kupcik along with nieces and nephews.
Andrew was a graduate of Westville High School and then served in the United States Army.
Early on Andrew began his career with the State of Illinois Highway Department where he was a
Material Inspector for several years. He retired in 1998.
Most of all, Andrew loved spending time with his kids and grandkids. He thoroughly enjoyed
vacationing with his family. One memorable vacation was when he took his sons and grandkids
to Mount Rushmore. Another family trip that he thoroughly enjoyed was when they attended his
granddaughter’s wedding in Tennessee.
Throughout the years Andrew remained a faithful Cardinal fan, and enjoyed watching the
Chicago Bears, as well as Illini football and basketball. One of his favorite television shows was
Nash Bridges. You could also catch him watching old western shows any given evening. Andrew
liked gardening, working on house projects with Kurt, and enjoyed his late-night phone
conversations with Kevin. The last three years spent in the nursing home he was attached to his
iPad. He would watch movies, listen to the news, and play games.
Andrew was a man of few words but had a heart as big they come. He was kind, respectful, and
always lent a helping hand. During his stay at Pleasant Meadows, his caretakers loved him and
said he was such a sweet man. It didn’t take long for him to receive the nickname “Cupcake.”
He was an amazing son, father-in-law, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend. The footprint he
leaves behind is a big one. He will be missed terribly by his family.
A graveside service will be held at Westville Lithuanian Cemetery in Westville, IL on Friday,
November 7th at 11 a.m.
